PHILADELPHIA WINGS ACQUIRE CHRIS SANDERSON IN TRADE FOR GREG MCCAVERA

The Philadelphia Wings, of the National Lacrosse League, acquired Chris Sanderson (Goalie), a second year veteran, from the Pittsburgh Crosse-Fire (formerly the Baltimore Thunder) in exchange for Greg McCavera, the Wings number one selection in this year's draft, according to Wings General Manager Steve Govett.

"We acquired Chris to become the Wings goalie of the future," said Govett. "He will spend this season learning from the two best goalies in this league, Dallas Eliuk and Andy Piazza."

Sanderson, a 5' 8", 180-pound Ontario native, was Baltimore's first round draft choice in the 1998 Entry Draft (fourth overall) from the University of Virginia. He lead the NLL in 1999 with eight wins and was second in minutes played (663) and saves (388, 71.3%). Fans voted Sanderson to a second place tie for the 1998 NLL Rookie of the Year, along with goalie Matt Disher of the Buffalo Bandits.

McCavera was drafted fifth overall by the Wings. McCavera holds Georgetown University's all-time total points record (234 points in 58 games), was a three-time All-American (1997, '98, '99), and 1999 ECAC/Reebok Division I Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year.
