WINGS TOM MARECHEK NAMED NLL’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Philadelphia Wings Tom Marechek was today named the National Lacrosse League’s Player of the Week. Last Saturday, the Wings outscored the Rochester Knighthawks, 7-1, in the fourth quarter to win, 15-12, at Comcast-Spectacor’s First Union Center in a National Lacrosse League contest. Marechek scored six goals, including three in the fourth, to ice the victory for the Wings, as well as to be named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

This is the fourth time in Marechek’s seven-year career that he was named the league’s Player of the Week. Marechek is the Wings’ all-time goal scoring leader (167), second all-time assist leader (140), all-time points leader (307) and all-time shot leader (576). Marechek was a three-time NCAA Champion at Syracuse.

"We rely heavily on Tommy to get things done for us on the field," said Wings General Manager Steve Govett. "His leadership this past week was tremendous as he helped lead our team back from a deficit to win the game in front of our home fans."

The Wings (2-1) host the New York Saints (2-2) at the First Union Center on Saturday, February 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets at $25, $21 and $16 are available for Saturday night’s game, as well as all other Wings home games at the First Union Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations throughout the Delaware Valley.

The Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings L.P., whose principal owners are Russ Cline and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, sponsorship and publicity arm of the Wings.
