PHILADELPHIA WINGS ATTACK ALBANY TO OPEN 2000 SEASON AT FIRST UNION CENTER

The Philadelphia Wings, of the National Lacrosse League, open their 2000 regular season at home against the expansion Albany Attack on Friday, January 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Philadelphia Wings home schedule is highlighted by their only meeting with the defending NLL Champion Toronto Rock on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. The Rock defeated the Wings, 13-2, to advance to the championship in their inaugural season last year.

The remainder of the Wings home schedule features the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, January 29; the New York Saints on Saturday, February 5; the league's other newest team, Pittsburgh (formerly the Baltimore Thunder and yet to be renamed) on Saturday, February 26; and the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, April 8. All Wings home games are at the First Union Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the last regular season game on April 8 which will be played at 8 p.m.

The Wings will open the road portion of their 12-game schedule when they make their first visit in eight seasons to Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 22. The Wings last played in Pittsburgh in the 1992 season when the Bulls played at the Civic Arena. The Wings will make their first ever appearance in Albany on Friday, February 18, when they meet the expansion Attack.
