WINGS NAME JIM ROGERS AS GENERAL MANAGER
Villanova Grad moves from Wall Street to Front Office
Jim Rogers, an eight-year indoor lacrosse veteran and a 1988 graduate of Villanova University, was today named the new Philadelphia Wings General Manager, according to Wings' President and co-owner Russ Cline. As General Manager, Rogers is responsible for coordinating player acquisitions, scouting, staffing and recruiting, as well as organizing the team's tryouts and training camp. He will also produce sponsorship and marketing opportunities for the team, as well as individual players. "We look to Jim to elevate the Wings to a world championship," said Cline. "Jim has tremendous business experience, lacrosse skills, and the respect of his players. We're confident that he, along with Coach Tony Resch and Assistant Coach Adam Mueller, will guide us to success and excellence this season." Rogers becomes the fourth General Manager in the 15-year history of the Wings. He replaces Steve Govett, who resigned to assume a similar position with the Washington Power, a newly relocated franchise in the D.C. area. |

As a player, Rogers accumulated 106 points (37G, 69A) in 60 regular season games played over the course of his eight seasons with the Wings. He was named Wings Captain prior to the start of the 2000 season. He suffered a torn ACL/MCL during a practice last March, ending his career. Like all Wings players Rogers also maintains a full-time job where he is the Senior Vice-President at Liberty Direct, a Tullett and Tokyo Liberty Company in New York City. He will continue to travel to all home and away games, as well as practices and scrimmages. |
