Since we are having the storm of the century (or so it seems) moving up the East coast, I want to know how much snow was dumped in everyone's backyard. So far here in Philly @ 9:30 pm, there is roughly a foot out there. Chime in whith what you have...

I would like to report that aside from a few flurries (maybe an inch accumulated) the Great White North has seen bugger all for snow lately.
Come to think of it, there's not even much in Buffalo these days....looks good on you east coast guys for a change!

Funny...I read this thread and then got up to look out the window (right behind me) when I heard the cricket sound of the Weather Bug on my computer. I clicked on it, and this is what it said:
Snow... Heavy At Times... Will Continue Into The Afternoon Hours On Monday Before Beginning To Taper Off To Flurries By Monday Night. The Snow May Mix With Sleet At Times On Monday... Especially In The Philadelphia Metropolitan Area. Total Snow Accumulations Of 18 To 25 Inches Are Expected.
Strong Northeast Winds Will Continue Into Monday And Will Cause Blowing And Drifting Snow And Near Blizzard Conditions.
Travel Will Be Very Difficult. Postpone Any Travel That Is Not Absolutely Necessary. By Staying Off The Roadways... Highway Crews Are Better Able To Keep Roads Passable So Emergency Vehicles May Still Travel.

you suckers down there in the cold USA :P
We had maybe an inch of snow here all year... today it was nice and warm for this time of year. I have only worn a jacket for about a week of the winter so far, as it hasnt been cold enough to need one. Gotta love the lower mainland weather :D

Short memories people..... Exactly 7 years ago, 2/16/1996 this area received 30-34 inches of snow. Lil' Swami was two months old and had a high fever. Nervous times. :(
Feb 1983 we received 20-24 inches. I remember that one more fondly. I was in college in Reading, PA....we went out to eat at a diner (believe it or not we were sober), it snowed 6 inches in the 2 hours we were gone. They had plowed by the time we got back to the dorm, 4 foot walls of snow on both sides. No place to park. my roomate backed up his 1974 Chevelle and floored it, imbedding it in an intersection to get it out of the road.
We then proceded to get into a 4am snowball fight. I got nailed by a snowball thrown by someone who went on to play for the Phillies and Orioles. I had that bruise for like two weeks.
Good times :drunk: Good times.

Memory isn't short at all...the snowstorm was being forecast, so I went to stay with my grandparents. At their house I had cable, unlimited phone calls, and the guys in the office (they have a plumbing company) would clean my car for me. Best of all, I wouldn't be stuck in a house, 24/7, with my mom. :D

We've gotten more snow. but not that much. We need to get a helluva lot more to make it a real winter.

Not quite, we in Waterdown got at least 6 inches between Saturday night and about Sunday noon. About 20 km east in Mississauga, there was nothing. We've certainly had bigger snowstorms, and it's nothing compared to what the US east is getting, but it made for some nasty driving conditions on Sunday morning.

WOW!!! For one weekend, it did NOT snow at ALL in Rochester. BUT, we are paying for it now. Seems there are some flurries happening right now as I look outside my office window. We're under a Winter Weather Advisory until 4:00 i=this afternoon, with parts of the area receiving up to 8 inches of show.... Rochester already has had a lot of snow this year, making up for the past 2 winters!

Ok, WTF.....why do you guys have snow, and we have an inch that's been on the ground for a week! I want snow!

Stomper and I went for a walk, so I added some more pics. I missed two REALLY good shots though. One was a parking lot FULL of people shoveling, and the other was this really beautiful tree covered in snow. Maybe I will attempt to go out later, but I doubt it. In some parts of the snow I had to actually straddle it to get over it and it made for some cold, numb legs.
I'm checking bus schedules because I am not interested in losing my parking spot!

1-2 feet of snow and everything shuts down?
People in NYC think it snows in Buffalo every day.
We laugh at snow here!

Well, if it makes you feel any better we've been getting snow for several hours now. It's supposed to last until noon tomorrow. About 2-3 inches.

Yeah??? I can remember Toronto having to bail out Buffalo with a snow melting machine several times. In fact, it got to the point where Buffalo was renting it more often than we used it. :p

The Buffalo Niagara International Airport and City Hall were both shut down Thursday night, and bus service was suspended, according to a spokesman for Mayor Anthony Masiello. A state of emergency has been declared and a ban on driving private vehicles was ordered. Area malls were closed Friday, though some pharmacies and supermarkets -- and at least one pizzeria promising delivery -- remained open.
It's all relative. Every area is only prepared for what it expects. 1-2 inches shuts down Atlanta because they have no plows or salt. 2+ feet shuts down Philly because it isn't an amount that we normally handle (plus, we still had snow left over from previous storms). If Buffalo laughs at snow the way you say it does....well....

Buffalo only got about 4 in or so, not too much. It was pretty humors today, they had a guy at the airport who comented that he never though he would be deverted to Buffalo because it was the only airport not closed!!

Hey Phair and Sassy would you mind sending some of that snow my way, I've got a test tomorrow and they're only predicting 1cm (That's a little bit less than half an inch to all you non-metric people).
X4ever - on the radio just now they said we might get 3cm... not much better eh? At least it will only be -5C tomorrow, no more of this -20C weather we've been having! :)

Total acculumation about 22 inches here in South Jersey, near Medford.
The @#$%^&*! township plow didn't arrive on our street until at least 9 pm last night.
I don't have a digital camera, but I've not snow piles at the end of my driveway almost 6 feet high, and over 4 feet all the way down both sides.
4X4 is a great thing on days like this. No, I'm NOT a maniac in an SUV. I feel that I know how to drive in the snow.
Welcome to winter Philadelphia.

Are you sure about that date ?? I remember January 7th and 8th - with anywhere between 27 and 34 inches of show.

I figured someone would catch it. I was sure it was early 1996 beacause of the nervousness of have a sick newborn with no way to get out if needed. I did a search before I posted, but didn't find any of the convenient charts like in the paper today. All I found was an article that had the 2/16/96 date, so I went with it.
Sorry for the ineffective search & reference.

X4ever, I would love to send you every last flake of this crap, but I can't figure out how to get FedEx to pick it up for me!:p If you really want snow, just figure out what we all did to deserve this, and do the same thing!:rotfl: But anyway, I hate snow, and am really waiting for Summer. We need trucks.
Wasn't it last winter when Rochester got slammed and the snow was shipped to another town that was having their annual snow festival, but by some freak of nature, had no snow.
