Very interesting. Saints beat the No 1 team and Buffalo struggles with the 2nd to last team. I feel and upsurge happening!

Very observant of you to point out that fact, Watcher.

The Saints proved today what people like Saintsdude and I have been saying all along. That the Saints are the most improved team in the league. This is only the first of more upsets to come.

The Saints made a few more believers today.

Go Saints!!!

great job by all the saints, i don't know what michael has been smoking but the saints are an off-season away from being a top-dog team. great to see mark frye return to rookie form.
a very dangerous young team, really, they are. and i still submit that roy colsey should be among the top-3 for mvp this season, he is that good.

Doug,

While I agree this is an important win for a young franchise that can't seem to get an identity (sometimes they look like a serious playoff team (@Tor, @Was), sometimes they look like a pitiful mess (@Roc, @Ott)), I can't possibly disagree more with Roy Colsey being a serious MVP. Coming into the weekend, Colsey was ninth in the league in scoring. He's averaging just about 5 Pts per game. A very good player, yes, but not MVP. Maybe not even first team all pro.

I'm not even sure that he's the front runner for SAINTS MVP, let alone contending for a league crown.

i tend to discount garbaghe goals, saints don't or can't run up the score on anyone so every goal counts. colsey has been their player, along with nash, and opposing teams know it. you face tor, buff, phi, dc or roch and you can't defend them like you can defend ny.
i did not say that he should be mvp but he does deserve serious consideration.

I gotta agree with dougm here -- Colsey is the engine that makes the Saints "go".

Yes -- Nash has been amazing -- and clearly the *two* of them are the Saints co-MVP's.

But doug is correct that "rocket roy" deserves consideration as league MVP. Point well made about "garbage time" and running up the score against the Ottawa's of the league. That's why Toronto is far more impressive to me than the goal-heavy, weak-defensive teams -- they play a *complete* game -- and get the big goal when they need it.

The Saints have now moved into this category as well.

Go Saints!!!

Colsey is a great player, but, Saturday's game was his type of game, a pure offensive goal-a-thon. Wulder, Derks and Frye had a great game also. Not all the remaining games will be like that. I noticed on the sheets the Saints were missing a few players.
Campbell, Frizzell, Panetta, they will be needed on defense. The next shoot probably won't be until they play Buffalo.

<FONT COLOR="DarkOrange">I hate to say it, but sitting Panetta for Derks was the right move. The reason I hate to say it is that Matt Panetta is a class act, and I know that there's an outside scoring threat there that's every bit as good as Colsey. It's a shame to see a guy underachieve like that.
Whereas Derks is providing an inside threat, and he has a real hot stick right now.

I kind of hope to see Matt come back to form, but I have this sneaking suspicion that it's going to be in another jersey...
