When: May 19, 2001.
Why: NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals-Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY. Game #1: Syracuse Orangeman vrs Hofstra Pride. Game #2: Princeton Tigers vrs Loyola (MD) Grayhounds.
Time: 12:00 pm ET to 5:30 pm ET. (appox)
(You are welcome to show up earlier and stay later. As of right now, I plan on being there for both games however a situation may come up where I will have to leave after the Syracuse-Hofstra game ends. I'll be in the chat room under the nickname "LB". Hopefully fellow chat room regular "Saintsdude" who will be at the stadium, will be able to be online and give us any "on the site" happenings.)
Where: Arenamedia/About.Com/Lacrosse Network Chat Room (http://www.lacrossenetwork.com/chat.htm or http://www.lacrossenetwork.com/chat2.htm)
TV Coverage: As of right now the following stations are scheduled to show both games LIVE: Empire Sports Network, Madison Square Garden and Comcast Sports Philly. Empire Sports Network will reair the Syracuse-Hofstra game on Monday, May 21 from 12:00 pm ET to 2:30 pm ET. Comcast Sports "Baltimore" formally Home Team Sports is supposed to air one of the games (most likely Loyola-Princeton) on Monday, May 21 at 7:00 pm ET. (Not sure of the length of the telecast, either 2hrs or 2 1/2hrs.) For coverage on other stations like Fox Sports New York, Comcast Sports Southeast, Fox Sports New England etc, check your local listings. NOTE: Should you not get the games on the tube, but want to listen to the TV coverage, Empire Sports Network has audio of their station via their website (http://www.empiresportsnetwork.com) Hopefully the audio on their site won't be down like it was last Sunday. (I don't really feel like doing play by play again. Thanks to the six or seven people who showed up and put up with my "PBP" for 2 1/2hrs.)
Radio: Syracuse has two stations that cover the games, WAER 88.3 FM and WFBL 1050 AM outta Syracuse. You can listen to WAER via this link: (http://www.syracuse.com/waer/orangesports/index_lax.ssf) It brings you to the opening page where you can either access both the audio and the Syracuse.Com Chat room or you can just listen to the audio. (They have a pre-game show starting at 11:35 am ET.) You can listen to the WFBL coverage at the following links: (http://www.broadcast.com/sports/ncaa/syracuse/lacrosse) or (http://www.suathletics.com/local/audio/mlac.html) or if that page doesn't work: (http://www.suathletics.com/) then click on listen to internet broadcasts link on the right hand side and follow along there. Their pre-game show should start at 11:45 am ET.
Who to listen to? Definiately the guys at WFBL. Dave Pasch (who is filling in for regular announcer Carter Blackburn) who does Syracuse Football/Basketball and has done Lacrosse in the past, and anaylst Kyle Fetterly will be doing the announcing. They are more professional than the guys at WAER (crap, I forgot their names) who are improving but still tend to talk about what a player ate for breakfest than say a Syracuse goal being score. (Another reason, the delay between the TV/Internet Radio on WFBL is alot better than on WAER. This helps if you plan on being in the our chat room above.) Only reason, I plugged WAER is just in case we have problems with EMP TV/EMP Audio/WBFL, then we will have to turn to them for coverage of the game. Hopefully no problems happen whatsoever.
Hofstra will be having radio coverage as well and the station is WRUH 88.7 FM (not sure if they are on the net. If they are, why didn't I know about it last Sunday!) As for the later game, Loyola's radio link is: (http://www.nastyone.com)-I'm not kidding its the nickname of the station the games are on while Princeton's is (http://goprincetontigers.fansonly.com/) There should be a direct link to the broadcast on the front page, otherwise you will have to go to the Tigers Lacrosse homepage and go from there. No idea on pre-game shows, however my guess they will start whenever the first game ends or at the worst like 2:45 pm ET.
Chat Room: If for some reason you can't get the games on the tube, you can't get any of the stations on the radio/internet to work, or just don't have access to audio and don't want to wait for updates to be posted on some message board, stop by Arenamedia/About.Com/Lacrosse Network Chat Room to get updates on the games.
Predictions: Syracuse over Hofstra and Princeton over Loyola.
