alot of griping going on the college boards why umass got snubbed. the main contention, despite a weaker schedule than hofstra or duke despite a #8 ranking, is that the coaches get to pick who goes and if you are not a buddy of one of the nominating coaches, then good luck trying to get in if you don't have an automatic bid.
any thoughts?

Yes.

UMASS fans are doing all the whining.

They can't get over the fact that their extremely soft schedule did them in.

Yes - they beat us (Hofstra) during the season. However - they never beat any team that finished in the top ten. Hofstra, however, handed Notre Dame their *only* loss and then beat the highly rated Duke.

Hence, our inclusion in the tournament.

Deservedly so, I might add.

Welcome to the "bandwagon" doug.

But there is that little matter of a game vs 1999 Champion Virginia on Sunday. If we get out of West Point on that day -- the following week on our own home field will be explosive.

Go Dutchmen!

i think hofstra will beat UVA in the first round. their play has gotten better as the season progressed, whereas i think UVA peaked already and is on the way down (a less than convincing 11-8 win over unranked Butler to wrap up the regular season) Plus the fact that Conor Gill is not at 100% with that injured hand makes things look even better for the Dutchmen
