Once again we hear Jim Jennings mention an application for a Boston franchise. I hope to grill him for some information on the 20th during the Titans home opener. We've got to get a New England franchise back on the map!

I now am able to support this wholeheartedly, especially if it's in the "New Boston Garden". :)

It was lukewarm when I was in NY. I'd rather have kept the team in Albany! :)

Looks like Beantown might even get another professional outdoor lacrosse team from the NLL come 2008:

http://test.denverpost.com/lacrosse/ci_4939249

If the NLL's strategy is to take out the MLL (and there's no reason it wouldn't be) then the NLL will bring both an indoor and an outdoor team to the Hub come 2008.

ps - Since when is it called "the new Boston Garden"? Isn't it still called the Fleet Center?

No .. ironically, it's the TD BankNorth Boston Garden.

TD being Toronto Dominion, I find it funny.

It's nice to see the words "GARDEN" up there again though! Here's a little didja know - The TD Banknorth Garden is the only arena in the country to have a true HD jumbotron.

Does anyone suspect that if SJ continues to tank out west that maybe that franchise would be moved to Bahston?

From what I hear, there's interested parties in starting up a team there. Although I've heard that just about every year since 1997. We really need to get away from moving teams and finding ways to bring the fans in instead.

Were you able to talk to Jennings at the Titans opener? The Boston Herald article was very informative. If the operators of the TD Garden are on board it should be pretty much good to go.

No, I didnt get to catch him. But it was a great game either way! I did learn that the potential owner was a big executive! I also called the Garden in Boston for some more information but didnt get a return phone call. Which doesnt surprise me. No one in Boston returns calls it seems. I'll continue the hunt for more information though!

I have been eye on Boston market for awhile. I have been hearing rumors that Boston will be getting AFL franchise for years. Rumors is just rumors and thats it.

I spoke to David Baker and he told me that AFL will seek to expand in 2008 and it will be Boston. I dont know what to say but for years, AFL has promised us that they will expand in this market, or that market and so on. I always take it with grain of salt.

Now, NLL want to expand to Boston, fine with me. Another road trip for me to do beside Philadelphia, Rochester and Buffalo (couldnt do Buffalo this year due to family committment - maybe in 2008).

So for now, Im taking all rumors of expansion talk with grain of salt until official word. Once I hear official word, I ll get the ball rolling to start making trips but - that will be taken care of - once the sked is out.

I'm not sure if he's got any New England blood in him. I hope he does.

AFL played a demo game in Boston back when the Blazers were still in town. I recall it tanking bad. But I think the support is out there a decade later to make a team successful. They need to make it affordable though. The Garden is NOT cheap to attend games at.

It come down to this - according to one of my sources.

In order to obtain AFL franchise - you must have 20 million dollars and 60 million dollars net worth to get it done. Unless you can convinced Ben Afflick and Jennifer Garner to invest that kind of money into this league, I cant think of any other owners that come from Boston that can do it. Unless Red Sox want to get involved, then its different story.

I know Robert Kraft dont want it. And I doubt that Celtics and Bruins want one also.

As for Boston NLL, all you need is 3 million dollars to spend and its all yours. However, I dont know about net worth. And, if Gongas (I know Im repeating this anyway) has 3 million dollars, he cant get in, because the owners will now undergo a very strict background check in order to obtain NLL franchise.

Did the expansion fee went up because league just added NYC and Chicago?

It looks like Boston even has a website and contact information about their team in 2008 with a picture of Chris Driscoll.

good find Corporal, would be an excellent addition to the league. Was in the Twin Cities two weeks ago and Boston last week, two excellent markets for the NLL. The Swarm were highlighted in Twin Cities Where magazine.

The league can say that But is anyone actually paying that? What has happened with the suspended franchises? I know Montreal finally sold, I think it went to Minnesota. I would think the Vancouver owner would love to be able to get something back for the franchise he holds even if it was a fraction of five million. Didn't he sell his house and life savings to try and save the team?

I heard that when they do finally put a team in Boston it won't be called the BLAZERS which sucks. Also Chicago stole Boston's colors and that too sucks.

Dunkin Donut Center. Home of the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Which at one time was owned by Frank DuRoss.

Its not true. Back in the day that was the big rumor as Frank DuRoss owned the Providence Rhode Island Bruins. Everyone figured he'd move the team out of Boston down to RI.

No one has said the team WONT be called the Blazers. No one has said the team will be in RI. Boston is a great market and why would anyone want to throw away the potential marketing campaign that could come from relaunching the Blazers team.

Because the colors are ugly as sin?

I think they should go with the local theme.

You have the New England Patriots.

You have the New England Revolution.

The lacrosse team could be ... the New England Minutemen

Go Men Go! Go Men Go!

or

Let's Go Men! Let's Go Men!

Both are perfect.

Sounds like Chad still can't bring himself to fork over his hard-earned money to a team called the Boston Blazers. :)

Besides, if they play like the Bandits, they'd have to be renamed the Ten-minute-misconduct-men. :)

Someone has pointed out to be that UMass is already the Minutemen, so that might not fly.

I'm now thinking Boston Bombers or New Enlgand Dreadnoughts. :)

I just hope if they do bring it back then they keep the team name as Blazers. Don't get me started on the transition from New York Saints to New York Titans.

I'd be opposed to Blazers. It reeks of failure, and they would feel burdened to use the hideous green and orange color scheme.

IronCrosse

I disagree The Blazers doesn't reek of failure it reeks of the kind green. I think they should keep the names and the colors and hire Tom Ryan (and his naughty dreads) back this time as coach. Then they'd become the favorties of every ganga smokin' lacrosse player that ever was. And now that I think about it they should add yellow to their color scheme to give it more of that rasta look.

There is nothing wrong with a green and orange color scheme.

Well he'll have to grow them back as part of his contract (signed on hemp paper of course).

If you live in the 70s, maybe. Green or orange, sure. It's different. Green and orange together is like oil and water. Ask Northern Ireland. ;-)
