12/18/01 - Face-Off Yearbook preseason polls released along with All-American lists
12/18/2001 TOWSON, Md. The anticipation has been building for the past several months but alas the time to announce the 2002 Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Polls and All-Americans for Division I, II and III is upon us.
Princeton takes the top spot in Division I as they edged out No. 2 Syracuse by 24 points. The Tigers will enter 2002 led by sophomore Ryan Boyle (right) one of the Tigers' five 2nd-team AAs.
Division II and III followed suit as Adelphi and Middlebury, both defending champions, earned the top-ranking in their respective divisions.
The 2002 edition of Face-Off will hit the newsstands in mid-January and can be currently pre-ordered by calling 410-583-8180 or on-line. This year will be different as four collector covers will be featured.
Defending Champion Princeton ranked No. 1

12/18/2001 TOWSON, Md. The Princeton Tigers, the defending men’s lacrosse Division I national champions, are ranked No. 1 in the 2002 Face-Off Yearbook Top 25 preseason coaches poll released Tuesday by Inside Lacrosse magazine.
Princeton, who has won six of the past 10 national titles, grabbed 32 first-place votes out of 46 coaches polls to tally 917 points. The Syracuse Orangemen take the second spot with 893 points and 12 first-place votes. Johns Hopkins and Towson followed at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, as they got one first-place vote each.
Three Atlantic Coast Conference schools are in the Top 10, No. 5 Virginia, No. 6 Maryland and No. 9 Duke; Georgetown, Loyola, and Hofstra complete the first grouping.
The Fighting Irish from Notre Dame, a Final Four team from a year ago, begin the second group of 10 followed by UMass, North Carolina, Navy, Cornell, Penn State, Brown, UMBC, Bucknell and Army.
The final five spots begin with No. 21 Delaware proceeded by Ohio State, Hobart, Rutgers and Harvard.
Face-Off Yearbook, now in its ninth year of publication and its second under Inside Lacrosse, is the most comprehensive lacrosse guide in the nation. The book contains previews of every collegiate team from the Division I, II, III, USLIA and junior college ranks along with an academic reference guide and a peek at the Top 25 high school teams.
The 2002 edition will hit the newsstands in mid-January and can be currently pre-ordered by calling 410-583-8180 or on-line at www.InsideLacrosse.com. This year, four collector's covers will be featured.

12/18/2001 TOWSON, Md. Syracuse and Virginia dominate the 2002 Face-Off Yearbook Division I preseason All-Americans first team list released Tuesday by Inside Lacrosse magazine, with four and three players each, respectively.
Syracuse's sophomore Michael Powell (pictured) is the only underclassman on the first team as seniors Mike Springer, Josh Coffman and John Glatzel join their Orangemen teammates. Cornell and Towson have two players apiece on the first team.
The top-ranked Princeton Tigers got shutout on the first team but have five players on the second team, most out of any other team.
