alot of great matchups this weekend, apart from the syracuse-uva tilt, other games included:
georgetown-8 conell-5 : both goalies, justin cynar for the cornell & scott schroeder for g-town, each saved over 60% despite facing a combined 78 shots!
duke-9 maryland-8 overtime : both teams suffered from offseason turmoil but it was freshman matt monfrett who got the winner for the blue devils i guess maryland beating mt. st. mary 18-0 earlier this week didn't help much.
penn state-14 fairfield-6 : calm down ra, it was only fairfield but will driscoll, charlie perry & tim emmich each got a hat trick.
loyola-8 hofstra-7 : might had been the 2nd best game of the day as goalies faced a ton of leather but loyola stunned the dutchmen by scoring the last 4-goals in the final 5-minuts to win on a goal from soph steve brundage. mike sullivan had 4 for loyola. biggest mpact from losing shanahan, faceoffs - loyola won 15 of 18.
jhu-8 princeton-5 : when you get teams coached by pietralma & tierny, its defense first. jhu got nearly all its offense from freshmen lead by kyle harrison & haverford's own kyle barrie. who picked the tigers as preason #1?
unc-11 navy-10 triple overtime : it could had been the longest game ever played in the ncaa. navy got twin hats from dave pittard and eddie mckinnon. it had the same back & forth as the uva-cuse game did with pat jackson clincher with a 40-yarder, that's right 40-yards, picking an outlet pass from the navy goalie and scoring into an empty goal. wow
upenn-7 notre dame-6 : just like i predicted, the quakers will be winning ugly this season but win they will. sonny sarker got the winner despite a 4-goal effort from nd's dan berger.
