roy colsey can score, ball hog or not. the storm after messing up themselves trying to get prout, mortgaged a ton of picks to get scotty stewart. i think stewart will pan out well, he certainly saw more goals once hinkson left, but he is by himself. guys like purdie, sombretto & panetta are wily grey beards who might provide better service to a team on the bubble than a team trying to find its legs. the question will be is there @ the 5th pick a player as good as colsey? by my accounting, its an ok draft but even last year's supposedly thin crop produced surprises - ryan painter for one - such that getting coley's 30+ goals is not a bad bet. the problem with colsey is that we can't seem to get him to mesh with his teamates. is there a reason - maybe coaching, maybe too much field tendencies, maybe arrogance - but whatever it is, i hope coaches brady/rogers can solve it. they must still try to figure if roik will be any better under the new equipment rules. still, the storm has lefeurve & hanford which means that their grit quota won't be lacking.

buffalo gets some good young defenders - ogilvie & richie kilgour can't play forever - so they'll help with the rebuilding. buffalo needs goals, period! tavares, ryan powell, maddalena, derks, darion are serviceable but not the bandit ball assortment that wreaked havoc in the mill under bartley. 5th pick is the key, would they consider coffman or glatzel from ncaa champ syracuse? will harysm or carlson still be there? maybe justin cynar? the turnover on this team has been unreal - apart from kilgour & tavares, whatever strategy they are using, they must stick to one eventually.

It seems that Silcott is always trying to make a "Herscel Walker " trade, It is always at least 4 or 5 players and adraft pick this guy needs to wake up and relize his team just isn't in that dire of straits or that close to the top that a big trade is goug to put them over the top.Every trade hurts as much as it helpslet the team gel a little bit, give your players a chance to turn it around any team with JT is a pretty good team no matter how old he is getting.

Well, according to popular opinion, not just in NLL fan circles, but in minor lacrosse (OLA) fan circles as well, this trade is probably the worst thing that could happen to the Storm besides their owner staying in the crossbar hotel. Sure, Colsey can score, but according to all of the armchari athletes that I have talked to, he's got nothing swinging between the legs.
In simple English, he's not tough. He won't be the lynchpin that the Storm desperately need because he doesn't have the guts. Skills can be taught, guts cannot. You've either got them or you don't, and according to quite a few people in the aforementioned circles, he doesn't. Me? I don't know, I'm just passing on the opinions of fans here, so they can't really carry all that much weight, but they could if they are proven to be true. I haven't seen Colsey play, or if I have, I haven't paid that much attention to him. My bad, I guess, but when I'm watching my hometown team play, I don't really focus on the other teams players, unless it's the Malawsky's, the Gaits, Gill, Toth or Codd and Kelusky...

Everyone keeps forgetting Orillia Jr. A sniper Luke Wiles. This guy should go No.1. He's big, strong, and skilled. He would be an impact NLL player from the start. As for Colsey, same two words i've used before: tunnel vision.

Wiles won't go number one just for the simple fact that a lot of organizations will feel that he needs more time to mature. Sure, he netted a whole buncha goals and had a whoel bunch of assists, but that's not everything. The ability to see the floor, to quarterback plays and to give good interviews are all part of the total package, and so far Luke Wiles is missing one key element, and that's camera-time.

He's been carrying a mediocre team for three seasons now. Bartley is in constant communication with Wiles. He is a QB on the floor, and a leader. I don't think Harasym is that great. He's good but not top five. Wiles, if not number one will be up there. He's expressed an interest to play in Toronto or Ottawa.

Yeah, but expressing an interest inplaying in a city doesn't necessarily get you there. Take Lindors for example: one of the most highly touted draft prospects (kind of like Wiles), and he ended up going to Quebec and then Philly...just because he wants to play here doesn't mean that he will. Some needier team may snap him up and trade for established players, which would mean that in all likelihodd he won't be coming to TO or Ott.

Of course another possiblity is that Toronto may snap him up first with their first pick, and then deal him to a team that needs him, so the likelihood that he would stay in Toronto, even if drafted here, is small...which kinda sucks beacuse I like watching him play.

Will be a top 5 pick...

If he doesn't take the full ride at Kelusky's alma matar?

No s---!! Do I look like I just fell off a turnip
wagon? He just told me his preferred cities, that's all. Obviously that won't get him where he wants to be. I just think that he's the best prospect now. That's only my opinion.

In reagrds to Meatheads comments about toughness, who cares? In a league where powerplays are killers you don't see a lot of so called 'tough' play, a la OLA or BCLA in the NLL. The NLL is about scoring goals and having a fast team. Sure you need a strong defence to win but you don't need to have tough guys on offence. Colsey doesn't play like a sally, he'll take the hit to shoot and wants to grab loose balls so he can, you guessed it, shoot. The fact is Jersey had a lot of pluggers and good players but no real star with any name power. This business is 90% marketing, which is made easier if you have a winning team or a bankable player. As far as the NLL goes, Colsey is that. The Roughnecks had a lot of talent on offence this season but they needed Kaleb Toth and his name to market the team. Given Colsey's time in NY, he should be well known, or at least as well known as you can be if you're an NLL star who's not a Gait brother. This is DEFINITELY a good trade by Jersey from that aspect alone. It is in the league's best interest for every team to have one scoring all-star and now the Storm do.
Those are my thoughts . . . .

True, Schad, powerplays are killers, but a good defence and toughness can mean the difference between getting smoked on powerplay goals and keeping it close enough that you can get back into it near the end...
