the storm were decent on the defensive side of the ledger last year. their offense had too many old timers or rookies so their goalscoring capacity was limited. roy colsey will notch in 30 goals and mike benedict has been one of the better players in this league not to have the fortune to play on a winning squad. mike should bring about 20-25 goals. so if my assumptions are correct, the storm added about 55 goals with most of their defense still intact. a rather interesting team to watch out for.

I think there was a quote from Jim Brady somewhere saying that if the Storm had 3 more goals a game, they'd be a playoff team. Colsey + Benedict = 3 more goals a game... at least. If everyone can share the ball, NJ is looking very impressive for this season. I wouldn't be surprised if they won the eastern division

You are forgetting the Colsey factor, Scott. When was the last time a team with Colsey won anything?

Same old, same old in the East. Wings and Colorado at the top, Saints and Storm in the bottom. Until Dallas says the two words no Wings fan wants to hear ('I'm retired.'), the Wings will remain a threat to win the East. He's the best goaltender in the division.

Scott, you made a very key comment. " If everyone can share the ball,...". With Colsey and Bennedict on the floor at the same time, it will be very interesting to see if they can learn to share. My opinion, from past viewing experience, is that Roy's not great at the sharing thing.

Paul Gait early in his career, kinda like Roy is now, didn't pass much either.I know Colsey is no Gait but the go to guy handles the ball more than the rest of the players, you just hope he finds the open man when he's doubled.Roy Colsey is a goal scorer and he should try to make the Storm his team.I'm kinda hoping he doesn't, but it doesn't matter the Wings will beat em up any way.

The Ottawa Rebel traded leading scorer Mike Benedict to New Jersey on Wednesday for the Storm's first- and second-round picks in the upcoming dispersal draft.
Benedict, 31, scored 35 goals and 47 assists for the Rebel last season. The eight-year veteran is a restricted free agent.
The dispersal draft will be held Sept. 21 to distribute Montreal Express players. The team will not operate this season.
