I noticed that NJS and NYS took a lot of field players. It seems almost like they're hoping that the Storm will do crappy this year and stink out the joint so that they have an excuse to fold the team or move it if Jayson is convicted and jailed...

They're looking for some more Nadelens and Holcombs. And the Saints drafted a lot of NCAA defense for obvious reasons.

New Jersey have drafted some of the best american college athletes available. Snobbish attittudes that indicate that drafting of any Canadian player is better than U.S. athletes is just that. Storm have severs=al good canadians but they also have seen that Shawn Nadalen and Hanley Holcomb were able to quickly adapt to indoor game. Colsley, Hanford, Sombretto, Talmo and Panetta are quite able to compete with the graduating juniors being picked in the draft. They only need to have one or two of their picks produce at the level of play they had with their college teams to make a significant move forward.

While I don't doubt that field players can make the transition from field to box relatively quickly and make a good go of it, the majority of the players that I have had the chance to converse with on the subject say that it is a lot easier to go from box to field than vice-versa.
I don't think that drafting any Canadian is better than drafting an American any day of the week, nll analyst, and I hope that you didn't get that impression, it's just that in the four years that I have been following this league, I have seen teams that draft a lot of field players do very badly in the standings (i.e. the NY Saints, the Landsharks, now the NJ Storm) in the first few years that these guys are on the team. Sure, the team turn it arouns eventually, but it does take a while.
There is more to my comments about the team sucking and wanting to fold it and move them: Seeing as Jayson is in a lot of legal trouble, it would only make sense in the long run to try to move the team or fold it should he get convicted and sentenced to any jail time. His trial goes in February, and that'll be about 1/3 of the way through the NLL season and dependent on the verdict in the trail, the Strom can go either way. In any case, they do have a strong core of players to build on in the next few years should they stay in Jersey. If they don't stay in Jersey, someone is going to inherit a very good team.

Seems that Meathead must be somewhere in his early twenties and he thinks the league started when the Toronto Rock entered it. WRONG! There were plenty of good defences that played our Bandits back in the 90's that were from Philly and Boston with NO Canadians in sight. Budget is also a consideration for some teams I'm guessing (Canadians in USA). N.J. is on the right track with the US defence with a canuck or two added in for flavour.

Congratulations, Niagra Ned, you read my profile! I am actually in my late 20's, and have been following the Rock for 4 years, but I like to know a little more about a sport than just the stats and figures about my hometown team. I know that the league doesn't start and end with the Toronto Rock. If you had read any of my previous posts, you will see that I am constantly referring to the NLL as "this incarnation of the league". I know about the Major Indoor Lacrosse League, I know about the Eagle Lacrosse League, I know about the National Lacrosse League from 1974-1975 even, and I can give you the history of the Brampton Excelsiors pretty much verbatim. Meet me some time and ask me.
And in case you didn't read my entire post, as your response seems to indicate that you didn't, let me repost it here:

You read that part, right Niagara Ned, or did you just take what you wanted from the post? I know that indoor lacrosse hasn't been around for the past 4 years. I know about the Boston Blazers, I know about the Detroit Turbos, I know about the Washington Wave, the Ontario Raiders, the Charlotte Cobras and the Pittsburgh CrosseFire. A major boxla league has been around since forever (OK, Wings fans believe it started in 1987, but we'll let them believe that), and it's been played in Canada since at least the early 30's, if not before that, with the Mann Cup being one of the oldest trophies out there.

Guys like the Gaits, Tom Marechek, Ted Dowling, Jason Wulder, Pete Parke, Daren Fridge, Bob Lemon, Marty O'Neill, etc..have been around since the early 90's. No Candians you say?? They dominated back then too.

I have a question for you Neddo. It says you are form Ontario, but are you just a Yankee living here? A lot of your posts have been anti-Canadian and I hate anything that is anti-Canadian. :p
