Default Expansion Draft

I posted this in the main thread, but I figured we'd need our own to see who we as Blazers fans would want to pick. This was my original post:

Looking at the lists, there are several guys who are available again that Boston drafted in their first expansion draft, so I figure they would likely target them again. There are also several available players who are current Cannons, which is another factor the Blazers may consider.

My picks:

Buffalo - Brian Croswell (picked in last draft)
Calgary - Ryan Avery (G) (picked in last draft)
Chicago - Brock Boyle
Colorado - Chris Levis (G)
Edmonton - Brenden Thenhaus (picked in last draft)
Minnesota - Ian Rubel
New York - Jamie Hanford*
Philadelphia - Jon Christmas (current Cannon)
Portland - Derek Malawsky*
Rochester - Marshall Abrams
San Jose - Sean Morris (current Cannon/traded for last season/local kid)
Toronto - Jon Harasym (picked in last draft)

Hanford and especially Malawsky would be trade bait for me. I'd look to deal Hanford back to the Titans and target Alrich, who they traded for last season, and who is now a member of the Cannons, Passavia (another Cannon) and Polanco.

Taking Morris from the Stealth over DDD's bro was hard as well, but you have to figure that since the Blazers dealt for him last year, they'd very likely take the chance to just take him this time. The Stealth are likely very aware of that as well. I would love to get Dawson out of SJ as well, and perhaps a deal could be reached around one of the other drafted players, like perhaps Malawsky, lol.

I'd also look at getting A.J. Shannon out pf Philly as well, and Ray Megill out of SJ. Both those guys already play in Boston as well.

I think that the Cannon angle, while I might catch some flack for it, is a legit road to consider. Familiar names is always a good way to bring people in and get them interested right away.

I hope Brock stays in Chicago so I can see him on a road trip down there next year. Even better, Marty can bring him back to Minnesota. But if Boston picks Brock, Blazers fans will really love him.

No you don't want Levis, no sir, he's nothing but inconsistent trouble. I say you keep him in Colorado and let us suffer some more pretty please? I'll be your best friend. Coon or Turner doing anything this winter?
