Well, if true, this sucks for the league and will seriously cut into my NLL experience this year... I'll have to drive 400 miles north for my games now....

But, at least I can now buy plane tickets and spend some time with my family.

While I am not doubting the first poster, I think it is very strange that the NLL and Shamrocks websites have NOTHING about even the possibility of the team shutting down (at least as of this afternoon, haven't checked in 2 hours). Your team might shut down and not a peep?

What annoys me about things like this, and it may not apply to the Shamrox situation specifically, is that I feel like a lot of businesses are using the economy as an excuse to cut-and-run. Maybe making decisions that would be met with distain other times knowing that now it would either get lost in the news or people would just blame the economy.

I get NLL and teams press releases sent to me and neither has issued an official release however the Shamrox sent out this to my email it looks like IL and a few fans who inquired with the Team also got it as a reply to an email.

I think it is pretty normal to keep this off the NLL website and the Rox site in case things work out because of the harm it would do to ticket sales and charge backs on credit cards from season ticket holders of people not wanting to lose money if the team goes under. Relatively speaking very few people who buy NLL tickets come places like here so most fans have no idea this is going on and that id the way the NLL wants it I am sure.

So it true the Rox are in trouble and I would bet the above poster is correct that it is now over at least for this season in Chicago.

If this news is true, I'll bet the first hint of it you'll get from the Shamrox site is when you open the site and get a 404 error, or a "This domain name for sale" notice or somesuch.

Oh well, at least the Shamrox can say they won their final game...

Although I dont doubt that this may be true, I hardly think its accurate to say its official without some type of credible source.

no offense to anyone who has posted in this thread but i want to hold out hope for the Rox until there is official word that their season is over and as of right now there is no "official" word from the NLL, NLL Insider, or the Shamrox themselves.

I guess this means another 23 players will likely lose those tenuous lacrosse jobs. Making the roster will be harder to nail down with an impending dispersal. Cuts continue just like the economy.

Well, for what it's worth, I just checked the Chicago Shamrox page on Wikipedia and it appears no one's leaked any news of the team's demise there yet.

So I guess that's something to hang your hopes on at least.

If this is true, I'm actually sad. The Rush (AFL), Shamrox, and the Wolves (AHL) are the only teams my family goes to. All three are class acts and put on one hell of a show. If the Shamrox are folding, I have no reason to pay a lot of attention to the NLL. At least I'd still have the MLL to listen to. But I'm still hoping some last minute, "Hail Mary" bid comes in, because I love my Shamrox lacrosse.
