| PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA
-- The third National Lacrosse League season opened in
dramatic fashion as the first game of the season went
into an extra period and the Philadelphia Wings edged the
Albany Attack, 12-11. Philadelphias Matt Ogelsby brought the ball up the middle of the floor, crossed the line into the Albany zone, and passed to rookie Jason Clark alone to Attack goalie Rob Blasdells left, on the crease. Clark faked and scored into the far top corner, giving the expansion Attack a disappointing result, but memorable first game in team history. Clarks first game in the pros will be memorable as well. The University of Hartford graduate was named the Game MVP for his two goal, four assist performance. |

| Albanys Ted Dowling
set the stage for the extra session with just 1:42 left
in the fourth quarter. The veteran forward broke down the
right wing, split two defenders, shaking off
Philadelphias Paul
OGrady, and faked goalie Dallas Eliuk to score his
fourth goal of the game. Dowling also added one assist. Tom Marechek and Jake Bergey each had three goals and two assists for the Wings. Albany was led by three goals and four assists from Josh Sanderson, the son of Attack General Manager/Head Coach Terry Sanderson. Team captain Darris Kilgour also contributed a four point night, all assists. |
